Coffee on the Terrace

t

I think that Mary McDonald of Bravo's Million Dollar Decorators fame creates the most gorgeous blue and white spaces.  Above are three of her spectacular "outdoor rooms."

Charles Faudree decorated this beautiful porch in Jamaica:

I love this side yard area from
Coastal Living:

In a feeble attempt to copy recreate this lovely look on my own back terrace, I got out my trusty sewing machine and glue gun and went to work.  Here's what I came up with.  Don't judge.

I decided to style the table just as Mary McDonald might.  She uses all sorts of blue and white china and porcelains in her outdoor settings.  While it dresses things up, it's not really practical.  My things went right back into the house after my oh-so-professional photo shoot.

I can hardly wait until the weather starts cooling off so I can go out in the mornings with Bitsy, read the paper and drink my cup of coffee.  My terrace really is one of my favorite "rooms" in my house.

Since our zip code is in the epicenter in Dallas of the West Nile Virus outbreak, I mustn't forget to spray this on from head to toe:

So that's the story of my favorite "room."  I'm joining Alison over at The Polohouse for her "Favorite Rooms on the First" linky party.

Hope y'all have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

  1. Oh I am so sorry you guys have had such a rough Summer. I have seen news reports and it is very scary about that nasty virus. Hopefully you will cool down soon. I LOVE your terrace. The others are drool worthy but yours is achievable, and that is what counts. Beautiful fabrics. Thanks for sharing. :)

    1. Barb - Yes, I think that all of the stores are selling out of "Off" because everyone in Dallas is so worried about getting that pesky virus. Hopefully this is the last week of 100+ degree weather and then we'll start cooling down. Thanks for stopping by!

PLEASE! This is fantastic and you did such an awesome job.

and your sweet lamp shades just throw it all over the top!

    1. Alison - Thanks so much for hosting another fun linky party. Can hardly wait to see what next month's party will be about! By the way, your tack room is amazing. The mixture of warm knotty pine, tartans, riding boots and other equestrian collections along with the two snuggly kitties on the sofa make the room magazine-worthy.

Speaking of outdoor rooms, when are we going to see your patio reveal? Looking forward to seeing what furniture you ended up with and whether you kept the delightful black, white and hot pink color way. Your fans are waiting with bated breath!

    1. Sarah - Yes, I'm looking forward to getting back onto the patio with my dog, coffee and paper. I'm going through my "Off" stash quickly and am wondering if I should be spraying Bitsy. Probably not a good idea. Thanks for the sweet comments.

  5. Ah yes, very Mary McDonald! I love all of the blue and white china with the blue hydrangea and Bitsy, of course! I used to live in Dallas a dozen years ago. So sorry to hear about the virus. I don't miss the hot summers but the winters were divine.

    1. Lynette - Thanks for your nice comments. I know what you mean about the weather in Dallas. But I decided a long time ago that it was worth enduring the scorching summers to have such mild winters. However, I'm ready for this particular scorcher to be over!

  7. It's beautiful - great job! Too bad you can't leave it like that. I also live in the Dallas area and wish I COULD decorate outside. But I can barely stand to GO outside!
