Brass is Back

It has been brought to my attention that brass house decor is making a comeback.  I've read several blogs lately devoted to this very subject.

To tell you the truth, I never knew that brass had gone out-of-style.  That shows you how much I keep up with trends.  But then, I'm not really the trendy type.  I think that's one reason that I'm so drawn to traditional interiors…with a twist, of course:

I use this old brass weight as a bookend.  The brass easel holds my sweet daughter's picture:

I began collecting these miniature brass candlesticks years ago:

I've shown this brass fender before.  It works very well for corralling large books:

A miniature brass fender as well as a little planter:

I took this photo during the holidays.  (My little snow globe is a la
THE POLOHOUSE.)  I love this large brass planter:

Thanks for stopping by Tartan Terrace.  Hope y'all have a fun Valentine's Day!

  3. I'm with you about brass. Your brass pieces are so interesting and I imagine there's an interesting story about the bat, too. I love things with a story.
Hope you had a nice Valentine's Day.

  4. I just love your decor (and I love brass). Must be because I'm pretty traditional too. (Except I don't do the bats twist, ha!)

  6. I'm with you, Kathy. Brass has never gone out of style in my mind. In fact, all metals are favored in this home. My husband's favorite is copper. I smiled when I saw your brass mister. I had one just like it back in the 70s. Wish I still had it. Clever use of the mini brass fender.

  8. Love the red lamp with the black and white checked silk lamp shade. Any idea where the shade came from?
