Pretty Gardens

Today I'm joining Alison over at The Polohouse blog HERE for her monthly linky party.  This month's party is about sharing gorgeous gardens, so be sure to stop by her blog.  Alison said it was okay to show other people's gardens, so that's what I'm showing today.  Forget mine…it's a mess.  I'm also attending Jennifer Rizzo's garden linky party HERE

Since we are quickly transitioning from spring to summer here in Texas, I decided to post a few photos that I took at the Dallas Arboretum about a month ago.  It helps to remember the beauty of this lush and verdant spot when the thermostat begins to hit those 100+ degree days.

BTW, my post on the Arboretum HERE shows more photos I took when I visited there last month.  A lot of events are going on, including a Dale Chihuly exhibit.  I'm hoping to finish my post this weekend in Part II when I return tonight with my friends Cindy, Deborah and Lucinda for a concert and to view the Chihuly glass sculptures all lit up.  Although copious amounts of adult beverages iced tea will be consumed, I'm sure I'll still be in good enough shape to photograph the utter gorgeousness of the place. If not, I can use my favorite photo editing tool PicMonkey HERE to correct my mistakes.

Love these stone columns with the urns full of azure flowing flowers.

I recently attended the "Upscale Garage Sale" at Lisa Luby Ryan's house in Dallas.  Her house and garden are every bit as fab as her beautiful shop Vintage Living HERE.

The following are a few random photos I took while doing
drive-bys of local Dallas gardens:

Love the way the coleus, impatiens, boxwoods and lamb's ears have been combined.

I was recently in Lexington, Kentucky, where I discovered this quaint garden and iron gate.  So pretty.

 Have a great weekend!

  1. What beautiful images, Kathy!
I am going to have to start taking more photos like these to share on the blog.
It doesn't always have to be about what we are (or aren't!!) doing in our little worlds! Takes some of the pressure off -- for sure!

    Thanks so much for sharing.
Love the colors and the mixes some of these gardens share!

  4. I love Dallas homes! I used to visit there frequently. The garden photos are just gorgeous! I wish I had enough shade to plant impatiens. Sigh...

  5. These are very beautiful homes and gardens. Would these flowers stay this pretty in the high heat all summer? Just wondering. Pamela

    1. It just depends on if they're planted in the most favorable conditions, i.e., shade, water, etc. But you're right; when the temperature gets up to 108, it's difficult for anything to thrive. So far we've had a fairly mild summer with good rain in Dallas, but it's only June 14. We'll have to see what August holds in store for us.
