This 'N That

Not much going on down here in Dallas.  Just trying to keep cool through the dog days of summer.

Speaking of dogs, I must show you this photo that I took of Bitsy a few days ago:

As any self-respecting dog can tell you, the only good squirrel is a dead squirrel.  Bitsy will never be able to catch one, though, but she's going to spend her life trying.  (This is about as close as she'll ever get.)

We have a bird feeder outside our kitchen window which is squirrel-proof, although Mr. Squirrel still tries every once in a while to conquer it.  Once he figures out it's impossible, he sits on the window ledge and looks in the kitchen.  It drives Bitsy crazy!

On another note, we have some exciting news in our family.  Our son and his adorably precious girlfriend are engaged.  We couldn't be happier about the upcoming nuptials, although they won't happen until next summer.  Stay tuned for more photos and lots of blogging.

And finally, a quick update on my Welsh dresser post.  If you missed it, here's the STORY.  Many of you have asked if my husband knows about my purchase yet.  The answer is, "No, he still doesn't!"

As I told one of my readers, he always tells me that he reads my blog.  He's quite adamant about it and acts insulted if I question him.  However, he hasn't mentioned anything about the new Welsh dresser (which is still at the antique store).  This leads me to believe that he is fibbing about reading my blog.

BUSTED!!!

  1. I love the photo of Bitsy vs. the squirrel. Our dog would go crazy and almost jump through the window to get a squirrel on the deck. We gave up bird feeding. Congratulations on your son's engagement. They are a beautiful looking couple. Hmmm I wonder if the Mr. is just keeping mum on the whole dress thing. lol

    1. Pamela - If Bitsy were a bigger dog then I'm sure she would try to jump through the window. You can tell that she was a little perplexed when she saw the squirrel only a few inches away. So close and yet so far!

    1. Yes, I think that since the squirrel can't get to the bird feeder anymore, he takes solace in tormenting Bitsy!

  3. Congratulations on your son's engagement. They're a lovely couple. I'm sure this coming year will be full of excitement.
Speaking of "excitement", I can just see Bitsy barking and going crazy trying to get the squirrel. That squirrel doesn't know how lucky he is.

    1. Somehow I don't think that Bitsy is any threat to that squirrel. The squirrel would probably tear her up in no time!

  4. What a darling couple! Congratulations to your son and his girlfriend. I smiled at the photo of Bitsy and the squirrel. Our sweet Sadie is forever running the squirrels up the tree. She doesn't understand where it is they disappear to.
Caught up on my visits tonight. Love the Welsh dresser. I'm pondering a set of dishes I found Friday. No place to store them, but such a good deal. Do I dare? ~ Sarah

    1. Thank you for your comment about my son and his girlfriend. She's already found her wedding dress and it's gorgeous!

I've found that if I really like something that I see while shopping, I may as well go on and buy it. If I don't, I'll regret it and go back and get it later. I can always find a place for something that I really love, even if it means getting rid of something else. I really need to start selling things on eBay!

  5. I asked Paco one time if he ever read my blog and he said "Why should I read it when I'm living it?" I wasn't sure if that was a compliment or not, so just dropped the subject all together.
