Splish Splash: Another One Bites the Dust

Yesterday I had been doing some gardening chores when I decided that I needed to cool off before I had a heat stroke.  Since I was wearing my swimsuit in anticipation of such an event, I jumped in the pool.

No, this isn't my pool.  This pool is drop-dead gorgeous, in my opinion.  

My pool is just a pool.  Nothing fancy, but it's refreshing when the temperature is 100+.  And Bitsy likes to swim:

So we jumped in the pool and were having a grand time, when I suddenly had a sinking feeling (not literally) that something just wasn't right.

I reached into the small pocket of my swim suit, hoping desperately that I had remembered to take out my cell phone before I jumped in the water.  (I always have my cell phone with me because, with four children roaming around the countryside, I never know when someone might need to "get aholdt" of me.)

No such luck:

Oh, no!  Not again……..

My first iPhone met its watery death when I accidentally dropped it into a glass of water.  It was the cat's fault, but that's another story.

My second iPhone got smashed to smithereens when I dropped it on a tile floor.  Completely ruined….

And now this.  

I'm trying the old iPhone-in-a-pan-of-rice trick, but I don't have much hope that it will work.  I tried it with my first phone, and it didn't work.

I even bought an Otter Box for my third phone (the one that just went for an unplanned swim):  

It obviously didn't work.

So today when I went to the Apple store to get my FOURTH phone, I bought the insurance policy.  

Duh.  No brainer.  Should've done it long ago.

Now I can get a CUTE phone cover, because if I have another accident, the phone will be replaced for free (sort of).

So many choices!  I can hardly wait to order one.  In the meantime…

I'm staying away from the pool.
